People living along coastal areas should evacuate NOW.

That's the warning from the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).

NDMO Director Vasiti Soko said storm surges were expected with 16-metre high waves.

"If you live along the coastal area, please evacuate now," she said during a press conference.

A state of natural disaster has been declared for a period of 30 days.

More on this Declaration will be released soon.

Wave heights expected to be up to 7m initially and may get up to 16 m.

Prepare in advance. A lot of damage during storm surge is due to boats that are not well secured.

Act now.
