17-year-old among 14 arrested for drunk driving

Police confirmed that of the 14 arrests, five were provisional licence holders, three were Public Service Vehicle drivers.

A 17-year-old provisional licence holder was among 14 motorists arrested for drunk driving during Police random breath test operations in Suva and along the Namaka–Nadi corridor last night.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit from Police Headquarters conducted its second round of Random Breath Test operations along the Namaka–Nadi corridor, where 320 drivers were tested. Eleven motorists were arrested.

A separate team carried out the same operation in Suva, where 38 drivers were tested and three were arrested for drunk driving. One of them was the 17-year-old student.

Police confirmed that of the 14 arrests, five were provisional licence holders, three were Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers and six were Group 2 licence holders.

Police continue to urge motorists to take responsibility on the roads and to avoid driving under the influence.
