2 face drug cultivation charge

Two men facing unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs charges appeared in the High Court in Suva before Justice Daniel Goundar.
Semi Nauca and Maciu Libu are jointly charged with one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs.
It is alleged that between February 1 and December 6, 2016, at Navosa, the two cultivated 2897 plants of Indian Hemp (marijuana) weighing 15.1 kilograms.

Defence lawyer for the accused persons Adi Litia Vateitei told the court that the matter was transferred from the Magistrates Court in Sigatoka.
She told the court that while reviewing the weight of the drugs, the magistrate had transferred the matter to High Court in Suva.
State Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Swastika Sharma asked to be given 21 days to file information and disclosures.
Justice Goundar ordered both accused persons to sign a fresh bail form in High Court with the same terms and conditions applied.
The matter was adjourned to June 7 for plea.
