20-Year-Old Charged for Murder
It is alleged that Kumar stabbed Apakuki Tavodi on January 18, which caused his death on January 22. The matter has been adjourned to February 9 at the High Court in Lautoka.

A 20-year-old driver was further remanded by the Lautoka Magistrate’s Court in relation to the alleged murder of a man in Saweni, Lautoka, this month.
Accused Vishal Kumar, of Saru Vaivai appeared before Magistrate Sekonaia Vodokisolomoni. He is charged with one count of murder. He was represented by lawyer Rajshneel Chand, who submitted a bail request.
The Prosecution was represented by the divisional legal officer West, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Harif, who objected to bail.

He also made a submission for the defence to file an alibi within 21 days.
Magistrate Vodokisomoloni told the defence lawyer to make a formal bail application at the High Court since the matter was an indictable offence.
