A 20-year-old man alleged to have raped a woman in her late 70s before stealing assorted items late last month appeared in the Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday.

A 20-year-old man alleged to have raped a woman in her late 70s before stealing assorted items late last month appeared in the Magistrates Court in Suva yesterday.
The accused, Alipate Lauti has been remanded in custody. He appeared before Magistrate, Seini Puamau, charged with three counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of burglary, one count of theft, one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.
Magistrate Puamau has transferred the case to the High Court because the accused was charged with indictable offences.
