25,960 Speeding Tickets Between January to June

From January 1, to June 30, this year, 25,960 traffic infringement notices have been issued for speeding.

The West Division recorded 10,227 bookings, North 2480 and East 2113 bookings.

The national road death toll currently stands at 56 compared to 21 for the same period last year.

Fiji Police Force (FPF) director traffic Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana said the highest number of road fatalities recorded over the past 10-year period from 2013 to 2023 was 70 in 2017 and 2018.

SSP Divuana said the constant factor in fatalities and accidents was speeding.

The Southern Division recorded the most booking with 11,140 drivers issued traffic infringement notices, he said.
