28 Receive Order Of Fiji 2018 Medals
Former chief justice, Anthony Gates and former governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Barry Whiteside, were awarded the Companion of the Order of Fiji.

Twenty-eight citizens received the Order of Fiji 2018 Awards yesterday.
Among them was a former Chief Justice, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, notable social workers, former soldiers, sevens rugby players, a boxer, weightlifter and pre-school student.
Held at the State House, President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote said it was the services provided by such people that ensured Fiji’s growth as a society.

He said the commitment made by the recipients in nation-building proved that there were still people who put others’ needs first, before theirs.

This is given for eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree.

Dr Nandan was the unsung hero. Her commitment towards providing medical help for the destitute was recognised.
Her son, Suva lawyer, Sidharth Nandan said his mother provided medical clinics in areas where people were poor.
He said she did this not for recognition but as her duty towards humanity.
