3 Gold Medals For Accounting, Commerce Major

Nischal Raj Singh made his mother’s dream come true when he scooped two gold medals at the medals and prizes ceremony at the University of the South Pacific (USP) on Tuesday night.
He scooped the Gold Medal and the Credit Corporation (Fiji) Ltd Prize for the most outstanding Bachelor of Commerce graduate,Gold Medal and the Fiji Institute of Accountants prize for the most outstanding graduate with a major in Accounting and he also scooped the Gold Medal and the Datec (Fiji) Ltd Prize for the most outstanding graduate with a major in Information System.
The 22-year-old said he was able to achieve his goal through his parents’ support.

“My mum always wanted me to get a gold medal right from the beginning and I dedicate this to my parents for believing in me,” Mr Singh said.
“Reaching this far was not easy because I had to face a lot of challenges along the way. I had to put in a lot of time and effort to dedicate myself to my studies.
“I am a recipient of the USP Pacific Academic Excellence Scholarship and that lessened the load for my parents.
“I want to thank USP and the Vice-Chancellor for sponsoring my programme.”
Proud father, Naveen Singh, said his son had been a high achiever right from his high school days.
“We are very proud of my son. He has always made us proud. In 2013, he scored the highest mark in Fiji for Year 12 and in 2014 he scored the highest mark in Fiji for Year 13,” Mr Singh said.
“I want to thank USP for sponsoring my son’s education.”
Mr Singh hopes to pursue further education in the future.
