30 child sex offences in June

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has noted a total of nine domestic related sexual offences in the last month.

Out of this nine, five were rape related cases while four were sexual assault in nature.

These nine are part of the 30 counts of sexual offences reported, of which 20 were rape related, two attempted rape cases and eight sexual assaults.

Victims were all under 18 years of age

It was reported that victims in this case were all under the age of 18 years.

Rape and sexual assault charges

The youngest incident involved a 16-yearold boy charged for raping and sexually assaulting his six-year-old niece.

There was another incident where a 34-year-old man was charged for raping his seven-year-old daughter.

There was one incident where a 67-year-old was charged with two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his nine-year- old granddaughter.

In another incident, a 63-yea r -old man was charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 15-year-old step-granddaughter.

In other cases, a 64-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl from his village while another 65-year-old man was charged for attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl from another village.

There was an incident where the ODPP had to withdraw a rape following a false complaint.
