300 Children Benefit From Free, Life-Saving Surgeries

Since the launch of the Gift of Life programme, over 300 children in Fiji and neighbouring Pacific Island countries have received life-saving heart surgeries at no cost.
On Thursday, President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu met with Sumeet Tappoo, chairperson of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital Fiji and director of the Sai Prema Foundation, alongside Dr Krupali Rathod Tappoo, director of the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital.
The meeting, held at State House, served as an opportunity to acknowledge the hospital’s invaluable work in saving the lives of children across Fiji and the Pacific.

During the meeting, Ratu Naiqama commended the Tappoos and the hospital board for their relentless commitment to providing essential heart surgeries for children in Fiji and the wider Pacific region.

The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, including a catheterisation lab, an operation theatre, an intensive care unit, and pre- and post-operation wards.
Additionally, the hospital features a training center with advanced international video conferencing capabilities, earning a reputation as one of the best medical facilities, meeting the standards of renowned hospitals in the USA, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
