$360 Arrives At The Right Time: Hussain

Government assistance came at the right time for Mohammed Jabir Hussain. 

As sole breadwinner for his family, the father-of-four children has been worrying about lunch money for his son who is a Year 13 student of Korovuto College in Nadi. 

And he also wants to buy some groceries in preparation for Diwali family celebration.

The 54-year-old works in a Butcher shop at Danny’s Complex at Korovuto in Nadi.

After receiving his $360 on Sunday, he made his way to the Fiji Sun Nadi office to commend the government assistance.

“I am so happy and I want to wish everyone a Happy Diwali! Two of my children are still in school and two are married with children and we all live together,” he said.

“I was hoping if I could receive my government assistance before the school starts on Monday. 

“With this money I am preparing my son for back to school. I will be able to buy his lunch and other school stuff that are needed.”

Mr Hussain said he would cook some food and prepare sweets and share it with needy families affected by this pandemic. 

“Diwali is a festival of lights. This year will be a different Diwali for me and my family. We want to reach out to the families who need food and help with the little we have,” he said.
