$42k boost for northern services

Ten stations equipped with generators, tanks and phones for emergency response.

Government service delivery in the North has been boosted after 10 stations receive new generators, water tanks and mobile phones early last week.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mosese Bulitavu during his one-week tour distributed the items to three provincial administration offices - Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata, and eight district offices, that included Taveuni, Tukavesi, Saqani, Seaqaqa, Wainikoro, Lekutu, and Kubulau.

The $42,000 Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) resource assistance will assist civil servants carry out their duties efficiently during emergencies.

While officiating at the handover ceremony in Labasa, Mr Bulitavu said these resources were vital to help teams respond quickly and effectively during disasters.

“Our officials serve tirelessly and it is our responsibility to equip them with what they need to protect communities and continue serving the people diligently,” Mr Bulitavu said.

“These essential resources will also strengthen the officers’ capacity to respond during emergencies.”

He said the initiative was part of Government’s ongoing commitment to support frontline official and enhance disaster preparedness the Northern Division.
