44 On Druadrua Island Don’t Want The Jab

Forty-four people from Druadrua Island in Macuata have shown no interest in getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
Village headman Masi Vidaune was alarmed at the number of people who did not want the jab.
Mr Vidaune said while 21 villagers have been fully vaccinated, 13 were due to receive their second dose this week.

He said that a village meeting would be held today to encourage the unvaccinated to step up and get jabbed.
“Now with restrictions to the number of people at a social gathering such as weddings, birthdays, funerals have been uplifted as announced by the Prime Minister, we would like everyone to get vaccinated so we feel safe and protected from the virus while socialising with others,” Mr Vidaune said.
“We are yet to begin with church services until everyone gets fully vaccinated.
“We will continue with COVID-19 safety measures and ensure that everyone gets fully vaccinated,” he said.
