46 new JPs sworn in to serve communities across Fiji

Forty-six newly appointed Justices of the Peace (JPs) were sworn in yesterday as the Ministry of Justice moves to strengthen community access to justice services across Fiji.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Chief Justice Salesi Temo following an induction session at Suvavou House yesterday, where the new appointees received training on their duties and responsibilities.
Forty-six newly appointed Justices of the Peace (JPs) were sworn in yesterday as the Ministry of Justice moves to strengthen community access to justice services across Fiji.

During the ceremony, Chief Justice Temo reminded the appointees of the importance of integrity, responsibility and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General Siromi Turaga also addressed the group, highlighting the importance of serving communities fairly and responsibly.
Permanent Secretary for Justice and Acting Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Social Protection Selina Kuruleca, who was also sworn in as a Justice of the Peace, echoed the same message.
The Ministry of Justice said another group of JPs would be sworn in on May 20, reflecting growing public interest in voluntary community service roles.
The ministry said the increasing number of JPs would help improve access to justice services and support efforts to bring services closer to communities.
The Ministry of Justice congratulated the newly appointed JPs and wished them well in their service to the people of Fiji.
