$5.6m road upgrade boosts Rewa communities

More than $5.6 million has been invested in road infrastructure across Rewa to improve access for rural communities, with additional upgrades to water services also underway, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mosese Bulitavu says.
Speaking at the opening of the Rewa Provincial Council meeting in Lokia Village, Mr Bulitavu said the Government remained committed to improving essential services across the province.
He said the Fiji Roads Authority had completed upgrades to roads, footpaths and bus shelters throughout Rewa to improve accessibility and provide safer, more resilient infrastructure.

"The total investment for these road infrastructure projects is $5.6 million, demonstrating the Government's commitment to supporting resilient development and improving access for our communities," he said.
Mr Bulitavo also highlighted improvements to rural water supply, saying the Water Authority of Fiji, through its rural water programme, had upgraded the Sawau District water system at a cost of $352,236.
He urged residents to pay their water bills on time to help ensure the sustainability of water services and support future maintenance and improvements.
Mr Bulitavo said the Government would continue investing in infrastructure and essential services to improve the wellbeing of people living in rural and maritime communities.
