The traumatic bus incident on Wednesday afternoon has left a lasting impact on the life of six-year-old Elenoa Gukiwasa.
She tragically lost her arm as a result.
Elenoa was among the 74 students from Delana Primary School who were traveling on their school bus when it toppled and landed on its side in Banaras, Lautoka.

Little Elenoa was seated on the front seat.
“She said she tried to free her hand and pulled a few times before part of it detached totally and fell,” her father Epi Batirerega said.
“I have five children and she is the third eldest, the two older ones just received minor bruises on their heads and chest, but she was more serious.
“They couldn’t reattach her arm because it detached at the scene, all I could do was take her arm yesterday and bury it at home.
“I am grateful that she is able to speak now and we are trying to remain positive.
“But this is the responsibility of LTA to ensure that these old buses are checked properly before they are given a pass, these are public service vehicles and they have people’s lives in their hands, they shouldn’t just approve vehicles anyhow.”
The parents have demanded that immediate action to be taken on the bus company, Classic Busses Limited.
