The $7.1 million Korovou Bridge along the Kings Road in Tavua will be completed by July.

This has been confirmed by Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer, Kamal Prasad.

The bridge has been elevated for resilience against the effects of climate change and has a design life of over 100 years.

Mr Prasad said they commenced construction in February 2020 and road works, utilities relocation, guardrails and temporary Bailey Bridge removal are yet to be completed.

He said some delays were caused due to relocations and COVID-19 lockdown.

The CEO said the previous bridge was a two span steel concrete composite bridge and the new bridge would cater for Fiji’s legal load limits.

Mr Prasad said FRA was constructing bridges in Tavualevu in Tavua, Yaqara in Tavua, Vuniyasi in Nadi, Bulu/ Matewale in Sigatoka, Velovelo in Lautoka, Waidalice in Korovou, Wainawi in Nausori, Naseyani in Rakiraki, and Viria in Naitasiri.
