Seven contractors have shown their interest to demolish the old Rewa bridge.
Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer Kamal Prasad confirmed this yesterday.
Mr Prasad said they were in the process of assessing people that would get the bridge removed safely.

“We will see the capability and capacity of the bidders that have expressed their interest in carrying out the job. We are not rushing to get the job done.
“We are also focusing on other bridges like the Tamavua Bridge.
“He said they had targeted July for a decision and to ascertain a budget for the work.
“We have to plan for all these things before we put a tender out.
“This is a plan but however we are prioritizing those that need to be tendered too early before we can look into these other projects.
“The Rewa Bridge is not in a good state, it’s not falling apart right away but what we want is for the safety of those using the river and the general public to remove the bridge.”
In an earlier interview he said two of the main aspects of the project they considered were the environmental and safety aspects.
