An investment of $75 million will be added to the construction of Hilton Garden Inn Suva.

That will add much needed accommodation to the capital city as the hotel is scheduled to open August 2025.

The three-and-half star property is expected to feature 179-guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, a fully equipped gym and pool located on the Suva foreshore.

The property is part of Carpenters Properties Limited investment portfolio of $75 million, including two hotels and an apartment building at the same site, launched in 2018.

Officiating at the ‘Topping Off’ ceremony for the hotel at the Suva foreshore, on Thursday, Hilton area vice president, Paul Hutton, said the property would attract more conferences in Suva and meet the need more quality hotel space.

The hotel comprises a six-storey building, with 59 rooms constructed before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Present at the ‘Topping Off’ event was Minister for Finance Biman Prasad, who said the strategic location of the hotel in Suva added to the city’s appeal as a vibrant centre.

Mr Biman said it would not only cater for international tourists, but also assist in accommodating the increasing activity of business travel, non-government organisations and diplomatic bodies in Fiji.

“This new hotel will undoubtedly attract more visitors to Suva, create new jobs and stimulate surrounding businesses; contributing to a ripple effect that will benefit the wider community,” Mr Prasad said.

Carpenters Fiji Limited retail and marketing director Kunaseelan Sabaratnam said the Hilton Garden Inn would position Suva as a diplomatic hub within the Pacific and the region.

Mr Sabaratnam said job creation and new hotels like the Hilton Garden Inn would create numerous jobs, from construction to hospitality roles, boosting local employment opportunities.

“Enhanced accommodation options can attract more tourists, particularly those seeking modern amenities and experiences, increasing overall visitor numbers,” Mr Sabaratam said.

He thanked the Hilton Inn board of directors for choosing to invest in Fiji, especially in the Suva area.
