8 personnel from a joint Australian and New Zealand Medical Assistance Team arrived in Nadi yesterday.

Following a request from the Fijian Government, Australia and New Zealand deployed a highly trained multi-disciplinary team to join forces with their Fijian counterparts from the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji to bolster Fiji’s fight against COVID-19.

The team’s priority over the next 28 days will be creating additional spaces to offer care to non-COVID patients and to strengthen infection control protocols.

The team are fully vaccinated and, following quarantine, will deploy to Suva to support the Fiji Ministry of Health.

Australia would like to say a big vinaka vakalevu to the Fijian medical & support staff who continue to sacrifice time with their families and their safety to ensure Fijians can access quality healthcare throughout the pandemic.
