Eight-year-old Petero Vunikoro has been found and reunited with his mother, Luisa Kaiseni.

The Delana Primary School Year Three student had been missing from home at Tomuka settlement, Lautoka since February 9.

Apart from filing a missing person report with police, the family also appealed on social media platforms seeking public assistance.

Ms Kaiseni said she was optimistic of seeing her youngest son again.

“We contacted everyone we knew, our families and friends,” said the widow who takes care of her six children.

“My elder son went searching in villages between Ba and Lautoka but couldn’t find him. We connected with Christian believers and prayed for him.”

Ms Kaiseni didn’t give up knowing that he was safe and they would reunite again.

On Sunday she received a call from her brother, a police officer at Ba informing her that Petero was well and was staying with a family in Ba.

“I was happy and couldn’t wait and meet him. I am so thankful to God and thank the police, the Fiji Sun and all the people who helped us to locate Petero, especially to the family who found and took good care of him.”

Ms Kaiseni is originally from Nacula Village in Yasawa.
