80 Firefighters Recognised For Long Service And Bravery
Eighty firefighters were recognised for their long service and bravery during Fiji’s Fire Service centennial celebrations in Suva yesterday.

Eighty firefighters were recognised for their long service and bravery during Fiji’s Fire Service centennial celebrations in Suva yesterday.
Janedra Lal, 48, was acknowledged for his heroic action of retrieving the bodies of late pilots, Iliesa Tawalo and Merelesita Lutu, from the Delaikoro mountain range in 2018. He dedicated his bravery medal to Abele Matai, who was one of the six fighters that was part of the Cessna 172 crash rescue team. Mr Matai died in 2019.
Mr Lal has been a firefighter for the past 27 years.
