Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga is standing by the appointment of Fiji Rugby Union interim administrator, Simione Valenitabua.

This comes amidst questions surrounding the date of Mr Valenitabua's appointment and the validity of his practicing certificate. Mr Valebnitabua's name is not listed in the Legal Practitioners with valid Practicing Certificate (PC) list as of March 16, 2023.

The list is for legal counsels that have practicing certificates from March 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024. Responding to queries from France, Mr Valenitabua said: "In my view, it doesn't affect it because I am not a legal adviser but an administrator. If I was working as a lawyer, then I needed to apply for a practicing certificate.”
