Attorney - General (A-G) and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga says given the seriousness of allegations made against the former Supervisor of Elections (SoE) Mohammed Saneem, authorities had to stop him from leaving Fiji last Friday morning.
He was responding to a statement made by Mr Saneem last Friday, who questioned the legality of how his name was present on the watch list in the absence of a stop departure order.
Mr Saneem had questioned the Attorney-General’s involvement in a directive to keep him from travelling as claimed by immigration officers.
