Fiji Airways pilot Captain Seini Cornish, the lone female pilot that successfully rescued the 238 regional pilgrims from Israel’s war zone last week described their flight as “a labour of love”.

Captain Cornish shared a testimonial on her Facebook page, affirming that the flight was God anointed from the start.

The repatriation of the pilgrims led by Captain Richard Yuen has been dubbed a memorable experience for the operational crew of Fiji Airways.

“With all prayers from Fiji, Israel and across the globe there was no stopping that flight from fulfilling its purpose. I am humbled to have played a part in this mission,” Captain Cornish shared.

Watching news updates of increased attacks getting closer to Ben Gurion Airport did not make it any easier for them, she said, but with the support from the management and the Government, the rescue plans still went ahead.

“And not only did we get that one shot it was most likely the last shot, as Tel Aviv suspended flights shortly after,” Captain Cornish shared.

“Shortly before departure, after preparing the aircraft to leave, Captain Yuen led us in prayer and as we held hands in the cabin with all our crew and we made our last plea to God, for safe passage for us and our passengers, we let go of all fear.”

Meanwhile, last Sunday, the Gone Marama Bale Na Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa also shared her testimony during a service led by Reverend Manasa Kolivuso at the CMFI Faith Harvest Church in Nausori.

They were among the delegation that attended the Feast of Tabernacle in Israel two weeks ago.

Ro Teimumu said she did not fear what they went through.

“I knew God was in control,” she said

“I thank God for the courage of our pilots, especially flying the plane over other nations to come and bring us home.”

Last Sunday the Fijian pilgrims gathered at the church in Nausori for their thanksgiving service.
