Holi is celebrated at the conclusion of winter and the start of spring, which is the season to sow the land and hope for a good harvest for Arya Samaj believers.
Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College principal Mohammed Feroz says Holi is the festival of colours which falls under the Hindu calendar.
“It instills peace and prosperity to the people who believe in Holi,” Mr Feroz said.

He said the message to give during the celebration of Holi was one of coming together, to forgive each other and have a prosperous Fiji.
Holi is celebrated every year at the Nabua-based school with the distribution of sweets to students and vegetarian lunch for teachers.
“Today is a holiday for the school a time for the Hindus to celebrate Holi,” he said.
“The religious activity is very important to some students because it links to their identity.
“When you understand your identity then you will know why you are in this world.
“When identity is missing then the students will have disciplinary problems and this leads to poor performance.”
Krishika Chand, 15, said that Holi was interesting because of how it was celebrated as students played with powder and colours.
