Adi Does Mum Proud in Exam Results

A student, who never got intimidated or lost hope, lived up to her parent’s expectations when she registered a good pass in the 2023 Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination (FY12CE).
Labasa College student, Adi Waqawai scored 313 marks out of 400.
Her mother Salanieta Marama, 45, was emotional to learn that her eldest daughter of four children had met her goal.

As the only daughter in the family Ms Marama was proud how Adi overcame her struggles with finances to achieve a good pass.
“I am happy with the marks my daughter achieved and to her other siblings she is now a role model,” said the happy mother.
The family reside at Nagigi in Labasa and Ms Marama revealed that her farmer husband was the proudest of them all.

“It is a big relief that she has surpassed the 300 mark because Labasa College is a competitive school with top students,” she said.
A small scale celebration is planned to celebrate Adi’s success.
Adi, 17, could not contain her emotions when she described how she applied herself to work hard throughout the year.
“I thought it would be 250 out of 400, so this mark is an icing on the cake,” she said.
Originally from Naboutini in Cakaudrove, Adi, aspires to become an aircraft engineer and help her parents break out of the poverty cycle.
Knowing that her family is struggling her aim is to help them become financially stable once she secures employment.
Adi has plans to go a step further and improve her marks in the Year 13 external exams this year.
