Adi Litia Scores Top Marks for Tavua Distict Secondary in Year 13 Examination

Adi Litia Matamalumu has set a new benchmark for Tavua District Secondary School in the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination.
She recorded an impressive 382 marks out of 400 in the 2023 exams to make it the highest since the school’s establishment in 1998.

She attributed her top marks to the strong religious and moral grounding instilled in her.
“First of all, I would like to thank our Almighty Father for his protection and guidance throughout this year for without him, I wouldn’t be who I am or what I have achieved this year,” she said.
Spiritual faith, commitment
Her spiritual faith, hard work and commitment to achieve academic excellence are three factors that motivated her before sitting for the annual exams.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Tavua District family; from the administrative team to the staff members and also my dear brothers and sisters,” Adi Litia said.
“I acknowledge the hard work and support rendered by our teachers who helped students achieve their dreams. I would also like to thank my friends for their words of encouragement.
“Last but not least, vinaka vakalevu Na kei Ta (Thanks mum and dad) for raising me into what I am today.
“You never failed in your role as parents. I might not have the things that my other friends have, but I’m thankful because I know some students wish for what I have, so I’m forever grateful for everything you have done for me.”
The family struggle was real since her dad was now unemployed,

Ratu Kaliova Maya said his daughter’s achievement came as no surprise for the family because she had always been hardworking.
“She has always been hardworking and consistent throughout her years in school,” he said.
“Best of all she hardly hangs around with friends to make the necessary sacrifices.”
The retired Thomas Baker Memorial School principal said the family’s prayers were answered.
“This achievement is not only a positive reflection of our family, but the whole of Nadrau where we hail from.”
Vice principal Avinesh Krishna said the achievement was significant for the school.
“People normally look at Tavua District Secondary School as an underperforming school but Adi Litia has set a benchmark that her juniors and future students will remember, we congratulate her and wish her the best,” he said.
