Against All Odds, Graduate Achieves Dream

Alesi Seaseakoro Kacivitale of Nasaumatua Village, Daku, Tailevu and maternal links in Namara, Kadavu, has shown that dreams do come true, even when the road is tough.
Ms Kacivitale graduated from the Fiji National University (FNU) on Tuesday with a Bachelor of Education in Secondary, majoring in Home Economics.
For many, this might be just another graduation, but for Ms Kacivitale and her family, it's a moment of pride, tears of victory, and deep gratitude.

Her father, Ilai Kacivitale, is a security officer, and her mother Ruci Kacivitale, is self-employed.
They worked hard day and night to make ends meet for the family.
As a private student, Ms Seaseakoro faced financial struggles throughout her four years of study.
"There were nights I cried myself to sleep in the hostel, missing home, missing my parents, but I always told myself, 'One day, it will all be worth it'," an emotional Ms Seaseakoro shared.
Staying at the Natabua Campus in Lautoka, far from her family, wasn't easy. What kept her going was the support of her elder brother.
"My brother believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself," she said.
Mr Kacivitale said: "We couldn't give her much, but we gave her our prayers and love. Today (Tuesday), we are so proud of the woman she has become."
Ms Seaseakoro is now looking forward to serving the district of Cicia, Lau, where she hopes to inspire students just like herself.
"Education changed my life. Now, I want to help change someone else's."
