Akbar Praises Student Help

62 FNU students received $75 while four students were awarded FNU-funded scholarships to complete their studies this semester.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar lauded the Fiji National University Student Association (FNUSA) while handing assistance to 66 students affected by Tropical Cyclones Yasa and Ana.

The assistance was organised by the student body and presented during an award ceremony at the Galaxy Hotels and Apartments in Labasa where Ms Akbar was the chief guest.

62 FNU students received $75 while four students were awarded FNU-funded scholarships to complete their studies this semester.

“During this difficult period every little support will help an individual,” Ms Abkar said.

“Whether it be in the form of cash or kind words, it will surely help an affected individual to bounce back on their feet.”

She said that her ministry had also partnered with the student body, FNUSA to ensure that schools were provided with the necessary stationery and resources.

Other activities

  • Later, Ms Akbar visited Tabia Sanatan College and Ahmaddiya Muslim College with FNUSA for a book drive.
  • Today (Wednesday) she will be conducting a similar programme at Dreketi Central College, Maramarua District School and Dreketi Primary School.
