Alleged Bag Snatcher in Remand Custody

The Suva Magistrate’s Court has placed on remand a man charged for allegedly stealing a woman’s bag in Raiwai on Saturday night.

Apolosa Macedru appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza yesterday charged with one count of robbery.

Macedru was captured on a Closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera allegedly stealing the 21-year-old woman’s bag containing assorted items worth $880.

The camera captured Macedru pushing, then forcefully grabbing a woman’s bag before fleeing down Nairai Road in Raiwai, Suva.

Prosecution has served full disclosures to Macedru who has chosen Legal Aid Commission representation.

Macedru has also chosen to have his matter dealt in the Magistrate’s Court.

The matter has been adjourned to February 25.
