Alleged MPAiSA Scammer Remanded In Custody

An alleged MPAiSA scammer, Sanjeet Shiu Narayan, was advised by the court to seek legal representation from the Legal Aid Commission on Friday.

An alleged MPAiSA scammer, Sanjeet Shiu Narayan, was advised by the court to seek legal representation from the Legal Aid Commission on Friday. 

He appeared at the Suva Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Lakshitha Jayawardhana. 

Narayan is charged with one count each of obtaining financial advantage by deception and escaping lawful custody. 

He is accused of defrauding people while misrepresenting himself as a senior management of Vodafone Fiji Ltd. 

It is alleged that Narayan defrauded the CJS Supermarket in Nabua of more than $8900. 

He escaped Police custody while receiving medical attention at the hospital after becoming ill while in their custody and was recaptured on October 9 in Nadi. 

Narayan has been remanded in custody. His case was adjourned to October 16, 2023.
