Two men accused in the murder of a 33-year-old man in Suva earlier this month, were denied bail on Friday.

Abdul Imran, 28, and Zahid Hassan, 26, were charged with one count of murder while appearing before Magistrate Krishan Prasad at the Suva Magistrate’s Court.

This is contrary to Section 237 (a) (b) (c) of the Crimes Act 2009.

It was alleged that on April 7, 2024, the duo assaulted Shavinesh Kumar causing serious injuries which resulted in his death.

The Magistrate’s decision to deny the duo bail was because the offense was an indictable matter that could only be dealt with at the High Court.

Both accused persons chose private lawyers.

Magistrate Prasad said the duo would remain in remand until they appeared for their first call at the High Court on May 3.
