Alleged Rapist Mum Denied Bail

The court heard the alleged incident happened on three different occasions from last December to early this month.

A woman who allegedly raped her daughter at their home in Savusavu, was denied bail by the Savusavu Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The accused, 45, is charged with three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of her child who is a minor.

The court heard the alleged incident happened on three different occasions from last December to early this month.

The third incident led to the daughter to seek help from a taxi driver who then took her to the Savusavu Police Station to file the complaint.

Police prosecution objected to the bail application.

The objection terms were the case: is of public interest, sensitive, breach of trust by a mother to her daughter and a case of serious mental distress to a minor.

The case was adjourned to February 6 for mention at the High Court in Labasa.
