Allowance For Village Nurses Sorted: Dr Fong
Ministry of Health and Medical Services Permanent Secretary Dr James Fong yesterday confirmed that the allowance disbursement issues for Nasi ni Koro’s were being sorted.

Several issues pertaining to the payment of village nurses (nasi-ni-koro) allowances were raised during a talanoa session on Ovalau island earlier this week.
Village Nurses from Ovalau brought to the Attorney-General’s attention that they had not received their allowances for eight months and some for more than 12 months.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said he had already raised the issue to the Minister for Health and he would follow up on it.

Village nurses are being paid $200 a month.

Dr Fong added that many of them needed support in filling the required paperwork which triggered the receipt of allowances.
