Ambassador Veisamasama Passes Away
Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia Seleima Veisamasama has died after succumbing to an illness she had been suffering from for quite some time.

Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia Seleima Veisamasama has died after succumbing to an illness she had been suffering from for quite some time.
She was 63.
The late Mrs Veisamasama was described by many as a distinguished diplomat and an able leader who led a team of diplomats to Jakarta, Indonesia.

Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Yogesh Karan said the ministry was grieved by the recent loss of Mrs Veisamasama.
“She has had a distinguished career in the Civil Service,” Mr Karan said.
“The last journey of her career, she served as Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia for three years, and unfortunately she fell ill.”
Mr Karan confirmed that Mrs Veisamasama was sick for sometime before her untimely death.
“My prayer is that in this time of grief and sorrow, her immediate family is at peace,” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in touch with the family.
Prior to her diplomatic appointment, Mrs Veisamasama was a school teacher, serving for 38 years in the education sector.
She has also worked for several non-government organisations, including the World Wildlife Fund in 2006.
She was a passionate advocate for the fight against substance abuse, awareness of HIV and AIDS, and the prevention of teenage pregnancy in Fiji.
She was a graduate of the University of the South Pacific, where she attained a Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Education and a Certificate in Diplomacy and International Relations.
