Suspended Director of Immigration Amelia Komaisavai has resumed her duties after the Ministry of Immigration sought legal advice from the Solicitor-General's Office, despite investigations into the Grace Road passport case remaining before the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
Permanent Secretary for Immigration Aliki Salusalu confirmed Ms Komaisavai's return to work yesterday.
Mr Salusalu said the decision was made because of the length of time the police investigation had taken.

"It was due to the length of time taken for the investigation, so they have to resume work while waiting for the police investigation to come across," he said.
He said the ministry sought legal advice from the Solicitor-General's Office before making the decision.
"Before we do anything, we always seek some kind of advice or legal opinion from SG's office, just to keep us there, because we don't want to break anything," Mr Salusalu said.
He confirmed the investigation itself remained ongoing.
However, Fiji Police Force spokesperson Ana Naisoro said police had completed their investigations and forwarded the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for independent legal advice.
The ODPP confirmed yesterday that it had received the docket back after requesting further investigations and that the matter remained "under review in accordance with standard ODPP procedures."
Ms Komaisavai was suspended in November 2024 over the unauthorised issuance of passports to children linked to the Grace Road Church.
