Another Drug Probe In School

A team of Police officers would be sent to a Suva school where students recorded a video of themselves smoking marijuana.

Five Dudley High School students were seen walking along the Furnival Park walkway with a bong. A student is seen opening an aluminum foil supposedly with marijuana.

Two more students are seen smoking suki and one is smoking a cigarette.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a team of Police officers would go to the school to find out what happened.

According to the school administration, the video is an old one.

This year has seen quite a number of cases involving high school students and substance abuse being highlighted.

Four students from Jai Narayan College were suspended for allegedly smoking marijuana in school and having the narcotics in their possession.

At the Assemblies of God (AOG) High School, Police had to intervene at to apprehend students involved in consumption of liquor.

At Nasinu Secondary School, students were allegedly gambling and smoking cigarettes, leading to a brawl.

Drug use at Marist Brothers High School led to a change in the school’s principal.

Questions have been sent to the Ministry of Education in regards to dealing with substance abuse in schools.
