Appeal Against Sentence Abandoned

New Zealand-based lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry has filed an application for reinstatement of his appeal against his conviction and sentence on contempt of court charges.

The matter was called before Fiji Court of Appeal president Justice Dr Almeida Guneratne on Wednesday.

Justice Guneratne said the matter was deemed abandoned.

Appearing on instructions from Chaudhry, lawyer Jagath Karunaratne, said the application was to reinstate the appeal.
