The People’s Alliance general secretary, Sakiasi Ditoka, said the arrest and questioning of deputy leader and candidate, Dan Lobendahn, was an attempt to derail the party’s campaign and muzzle its candidates.

Mr Lobendahn was arrested in relation to a campaign called Rock the Vote, which was seen as a form of vote buying by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

“We wish to reassure our fellow candidates, our voters, our supporters and our partner, the National Federation Party not to be moved by this fear mongering and bully tactics,” he said.
