Arson Accused Fronts Court

A Labasa man who allegedly burned his brother-in- law’s house and allegedly tried to commit suicide on the eve of Good Friday, appeared at the Labasa Magistrates Court yesterday.
Govind Singh who was charged with one count of arson, appeared before Magistrate Bimsara Jagodage.
Police Prosecutor Constable Abinash Prasad informed the court that it was an indictable offence and requested the case to be called in High Court in Labasa.

Magistrate Jagodage transferred the case to High Court and further remanded the accused in custody.
It was alleged that Singh burned the house of his brother- in-law, Jitendra Prasad, who was his neighbour at Batinikama, Labasa.
The case has been adjourned to May 2.
