Aseri Nakibu Is First Woman Parade Commander
For me to be the commandant of the Fiji Police Academy with a total manpower of approximately 72, is indeed a proud moment with the passing-out parade of 184 young men and women.

Superintendent of Police Aseri Nakibu is the first woman parade commander since the Fiji Police Force started recruiting women in 1970. She is the Commandant of the Fiji Police Academy.
The mother of three said she was grateful to be the parade commander for the Basic Recruit Force No 62, which was held in Nasese on Friday.
She hails from Nawaka Village in Nadi with maternal links in Vunaniu in Serua and has been a Police Officer since 1995.

Planning to retire on a high note, she said she was proud of what she had achieved.
Overjoyed and grateful for the opportunity given to her, she thanked the Commissioner of Police for recognising women in policing.
She said despite the Fiji Police Force being a male-dominated organisation, she believes that it was only a matter of giving one’s best and performing to the best of their abilities.
“For me to be the commandant of the Fiji Police Academy with a total manpower of approximately 72, is indeed a proud moment with the passing-out parade of 184 young men and women,” she said.
“My message to young women out there is that nothing is impossible in this world if you have the willing heart to serve and have God with you always.”
She is also married to a Police Officer and hopes to one day retire from the Fiji Police Force as the Assistant Police Commissioner.
Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing Inia Seruiratu said it was a historic passing-out parade as this was the first batch to graduate with a Level 4 Certificate in Policing, a recognised accredited qualification.
