Assistant Principals Receive Salary Upgrade

Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro announced in Parliament on Wednesday that nearly 400 teachers have received salary upgrades.
Mr Radrodro revealed that 296 teachers received salary increases in December last year following qualification upgrades, while 103 Assistant Principals were moved from Band H, Step 1 to Band H, Step 2.
“I have received numerous appreciation messages from Assistant Principals who have received their upgraded salary in this pay,” Mr Radrodro told Parliament.

The minister also announced plans to upgrade salaries for approximately 400 additional teachers who have served for 20 to 30 years yet remain on annual salaries of just $22,000.
“These non-post holder teachers graduated when teacher qualifications were only certificates or diplomas.
“The ministry acknowledges their years of experience and notes that many served in rural areas, impacting their ability to upgrade qualifications,” he said.
Mr Radrodro highlighted that the ministry was working with teacher unions on retention initiatives.
He stressed the importance of timely transfers for rural teachers to allow them access to further study opportunities.
The salary upgrades come amid what the minister described as “massive resignations” in recent years, with teachers leaving for better job offers and increased pay offers elsewhere.
