Nei, au via lako i vale’ (aunty, I want to go home).
These were the last words Grace Tuinasolo, 6, told her aunt, Aseri Savui, after she fell two meters down from a slope and landed on a pile of rocks which resulted in her death near her home in Lololo, Lautoka last Friday.
Grace, a Year 1 student at Drasa Primary School and the eldest of four siblings was with her family at their sugarcane plantation around 4pm on the day of the incident when she was told to go home by her two aunties, Ms Savui and Mererai Sese.

“We were at our sugarcane plantation on Friday and Grace and the kids were with us as well but were playing on one side,” said Ms Savui.
“It was getting late so we told the kids to go back home, we are still not sure how Grace went up to the slope and fell from there.”
Ms Sese said she was still busy at the plantation when she heard a yell from the slope.
“I ran quickly to go check who it was, it was Grace, she was laying on her back, no visible injuries on her body,” she said.
“We brought her down quickly and all she said was that she wanted to go home.”
Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said Grace’s mother tried to apply CPR but it turned out negative.
She was then rushed to the Lautoka Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms Naisoro said investigations into this are continuing.
Grace will be laid to rest this Thursday.
