Australia Announces 3000 Visa Deals For Pacific Workers

A new visa will allow up to 3000 people from the Pacific re­gion to migrate to Austral­ia as permanent residents each year, under a scheme modelled on a New Zealand immigration program.

A new visa will allow up to 3000 people from the Pacific re­gion to migrate to Austral­ia as permanent residents each year, under a scheme modelled on a New Zealand immigration program.

The bill for the new visa was reportedly be intro­duced to the Australian Parliament yesterday.

If passed, the 3000 suc­cessful applicants can in­clude partners and depend­ent children. The Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) has a two-step application process, under which ap­plicants must first register in a ballot and pay a fee of $Au25 ($Fj38).
