A $143,000 donation from the Australia-Fiji Health Programme, facilitated by DFAT, is set to significantly strengthen Fiji's healthcare logistics.

The gift, received by the Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services (FPBS), includes a forklift, laptops, trolleys and 14,000 saline IV solutions.

The Ministry of Health Chief Medical Advisor, Dr Luisa Cikamatana, said the items were "straightforward fixes" that represented a significant advancement in supply chain resilience.

Dr Cikamatana said the equipment would deliver tangible improvements.

The forklift will enhance warehouse efficiency, trolleys will ensure safe order fulfilment, and laptops will advance crucial procurement digitisation plans.

The saline solutions will immediately address a critical clinical shortage, directly supporting patient care. She commended the partnership, highlighting existing progress and ambitious digital futures.

Also officiating at the handover, DFAT's senior programme manager-health, Dr Frances Bingwor, emphasised that the donation ensures reliable medical supplies reach those in need, creating a lasting impact on Fiji's healthcare system.

Dr Bingwor said the collaboration underscored a shared dedication to strengthening Fiji's medical infrastructure through practical support and innovation.
