Australian Defence Force Chief of Army Visits RFMF Counterparts

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Chief of Army, Lieutenant-General Richard Maxwell “Rick” Burr made an official visit to the Headquarters of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on Wednesday.
He was received by Deputy Commander, Brigadier-General Aziz Mohammed and was accorded a Quarter Guard.
After a brief discussion with Brigadier-General Mohammed, Lieutenant-General Burr proceeded to visit Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) in Nabua were he was received by Commander Land Force Colonel Manoa Gadai.

At QEB Lieutenant-General Burr was also accorded a traditional welcoming ceremony after which there was a display from the Unarmed Combat Unit of the RFMF.
He told the officers and senior non-commissioned officers (SNCOs) after the ceremony that it is a great honour to work together and explore ways to continue to deepen our co-operation.

Brief biodata
Lieutenant-General Burr served as Commander 1st Division from 2011 to 2012, Deputy Commanding General – Operations, United States Army Pacific from January 2013 to November 2014, and Deputy Chief of Army from 2015 to 2018.
He is the first foreign general to have been given a service component command within the United States Army.
