Ministry of Justice

Auta Moceisuva has been appointed Acting Commissioner of Corrections, effective December 8, 2025, the Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General Siromi Turaga confirmed to senior officers this afternoon.

The announcement was released on the Ministry of Justice’s Facebook page.

Mr Moceisuva previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Corrections.

His appointment, made by President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, is intended to provide continuity in leadership and ensure the smooth administration of the Fiji Corrections Service.

No clear reason was given for the reassignment, although former Acting Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, Sevuloni Naucukidi, is currently facing one count of criminal intimidation for allegedly threatening a member of his support staff in July 2025.

The Ministry thanked Mr Naucukidi for his service and confirmed he will return to his substantive position.

Corrections officers have been urged to maintain unity, professionalism and strong collaboration during the leadership transition, with the Ministry noting that stability across all levels remains essential to the organisation’s operations.
