Water Authority of Fiji has given its reassurance to villagers of Waiqanake, just outside Lami, that water will be fully restored next month.

Chief operating officer Seru Soderberg said they were exploring ways of building new pathways to supply water in affected areas.

Mr Soderberg said the reduction in production levels at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant was affecting water supply to customers ranging from low pressure, intermittent to no water supply.

WAF operations teams are working to rectify it by prioritising the replenishment of service reservoirs to desired levels to allow water supply to normalise to the areas impacted.

Resident Angelina Ram said she has been constantly communicating with the authority but to no avail.

“Still, for the seventh consecutive day we have not received a single drop of water in our taps,” Ms Ram claimed.

With no water supply, Waqainake villagers use the nearby creek to bathe and do laundry.
