The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has attended to the burst sewer main on Denarau Road.

After a completion of repairs on Monday, the pressure line was engaged by turning on the pumps at Regent Pump Station at 4pm.

The weakened AC Main caused a hairline fracture on the main 2m away from the repaired portion at around 4:30pm.

The authority’s maintenance teams reassembled at 5pm to attend to a hairline fracture caused by a weakened main, with work being delayed till 8:00 pm due to heavy rain.

A full length of AC Main was cut out and replaced with a full length of MPVC pipe with two Supa Coupling and the works were completed at 1:22am yesterday morning, after which the contractor carried out backfill, compaction and reinstatement.

The Regent Wastewater Pump Station was then turned on at 2am, and as of yesterday morning, has continued to operate without any sign of burst at any other location on the rising main.
